Why Have A Free App Where The Key Features Are Paid?

I was so excited for this app. I use YouVersion and saw a few plans through them that were branded SheReadsTruth and decided to investigate. Initially, I was pleased. I love the layout. The app is gorgeous and easy to use. But I take MAJOR issue with paying $2 per devotional. I would happily pay a little bit for the app to have access to devotionals. And its not that the cost is that bad because its not. It just feels a little misrepresentative to have a free app and then have to pay for the major features of the app individually. If youre going to charge to use, make it a flat fee. Make the app cost or make access to the devotional library a flat cost for all, not individual.
